BRANDON SELBY BLANKEN DPM IS BOARD QUALIFIED IN FOOT AND ANKLE SURGERY
Dr Blanken is equipped and qualified to surgically treat all pathology of the foot and ankle. Not all problems require surgery, and Dr. Blanken firmly believes that surgery should only be pursued if conservative management fails to meet the patients' specific goals. If your foot and ankle problem is causing pain or weakness that makes you unable to reach your goals, conservative modalities including but not limited to bracing, injections, oral and topical medications, and physical therapy will be exhausted before a patient specific surgical plan is recommended.
Brandon Selby Blanken, DPM, joined Blanken podiatry group in 2023, although he has been around the practice since he was a child. He completed his Podiatric Medical Degree (DPM) in 2020 at Temple University in Philadelphia, where he served a student body president. He completed his surgical training in 2023 at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. During his training, Dr. Blanken served as a chief resident and was exposed to a wide array of surgical approaches by fellowship trained podiatric foot and ankle surgeons, orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons, plastic surgeons, and vascular surgeons. After performing more than 1200 cases in his training, Dr. Blanken is well equipped to address your foot and ankle issues. His training has allowed him to approach any foot and ankle ailment with a multitude of approaches to fit your specific needs, ranging from conservative care, diabetic foot care, minimal and small incision reconstructive surgery including minimal incision bunion surgery, MIS, sports injuries, trauma, arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement.
Dr. Brandon Blanken has a special interest in treating athletes, foot and ankle trauma from sprains to fracture care and reconstruction of arthritic and or flat feet. Dr. Blanken believes surgery should be a last resort, and conservative management should be exhausted until surgery is absolutely necessary.
Dr. Brandon Blanken is a Montgomery County native and was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School and was also a graduate at the University of Maryland where he enjoyed playing on the club hockey team all four years. Dr. Blanken enjoys playing golf and ice hockey, following DC sports, and trying new and unique foods in the DC area.
